Movie:
Lady and the Tramp
A Disney classic about Lady, a pedigreed cocker spaniel who is displaced by a new baby in the family. She flees one night and runs into Tramp, a scoundrel mutt who shows her what life is like with no human family to keep tabs on her. This is one of my kids' favorites with lots of dogs and great music, they could watch it over and over again.
Menu:
Spaghetti and Meatballs - just like Lady and Tramp eat at Tony's on their romantic date.
Puppy Chow for dessert. Don't be put off by the name, this stuff is delicious, but be warned, it's addictive! It is also great for parties. You'll need to make this a little ahead of time to allow it to cool.
Activities:
coloring pages, paper puppets

Disney's A Bug's Life
A Bug's Life is the story of Flik, an ant who destroys the food supply his ant colony. The colony has been working hard to gather enough food for the evil grasshoppers who control them. Flik goes in search of help and comes across a group of circus performing bugs who he mistakes for brave warrior bugs. He brings them back and they all work together to fight against the oppression of the grasshoppers. A note to parents, there are a couple of scary scenes with the grasshoppers, so beware if your children are sensitive to this.

Friday Night Fun
Dinner and a movie started when I was with some friends looking at the Disney Bakery Cookbook. We realized we could have a themed dinner to go along with the dessert and movie from the cookbook.
Now at our house we have dinner and a movie every Friday night. We all watch a movie together and eat dinner in front of the TV. I come up with a menu each week to go with the movie. My sister started using the ideas with a group of her friends and together she and my husband encouraged me to start a blog so that I could share the ideas with other people. Sadly, I am not a great cook, so I can't include any recipes for you to use, becuase I don't have any of my own recipes. I can barely follow one from a book. But I can point you to some of the websites and cookbooks that I use a lot.
While I am cooking, I sometimes try to occupy my boys to keep them out of the kitchen. I print out coloring pages and crafts for them to do, so I will include those links when I can.
My whole family looks forward to Friday night Dinner and a Movie and I hope that you and your family will enjoy it too, whether it's every week like us, or every once in a while.
